A Fragile Balance
A fragile balance explores how the body maintains its subtle equilibrium within the world. Painted in tempera on clayboard, the vertical white form at the center evokes the presence of a body — grounded, receptive, and in quiet dialogue with its surroundings.
Around it, a geometric field of horizontal and vertical bands in deep blues, greens, oranges, and reds creates a structured environment. These intersecting paths suggest the push and pull of external forces, rhythms, and directions that shape bodily experience. The swirling yellow and orange “knots” introduce tension and release — moments where energy gathers, hesitates, or moves through blocks before finding flow again.
This work was created while listening to healing Hz-frequency music, allowing the composition to grow from a meditative state of tuning, sensing, and balancing. It is the first piece that opens into the “Sequences” series, announcing the vocabulary of movement, interruption, and energetic mapping that the later works expand upon.
The wooden frame, covered in gold leaf following the tradition of devotional icons, envelops the painting in a soft radiance. Its reflective surface intensifies the colors and enhances the contemplative quality of the piece, inviting the viewer into a space of stillness, clarity, and subtle perception.
