Saint George and the dragon 5 (Sold!)

Medieval and pre-renaissance themes and motifs fascinate me and regularly inspire me in my artistic creation.

Christian civilization and its wars to defend its values is at the heart of my latest series (2022-2023). “Saint George and the dragon” is a theme very often used in European culture: a saint protector of peoples, embodied in the fight of good against evil.

I started this series when the war in Ukraine begun (24 februari 2022). Right now, as I’m writing, the war has been going on for 2 years (730 days)

In our world of war and deep crisis, I take up this classic theme in a series of works of art.I portray elements from the allegory ( the spear, the sword, the shield, the wings, the dragon and the knight) and update the theme freely.

This small expressive work is made of egg tempera, oil paint and gold leaf on a wooden board. Colors are explosive, the dragon is violently spitting fire, dots of colors and gold are spread out all over the painting, the archangel tries to master the monster. A golden frame enhances the power of that painting.

Saint George and the dragon 5 has been sold!: it is now in the collection of one of my sponsors in France who acquired 4 works of mine till now!
